First multi-lingual portal launched in Mumbai

Mumbai: The first multi-lingual portal has been launched by the Research and Development Organization, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the department of Information Technology (DIT) and Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) in Mumbai.

The website was launched by Sachin Pilot, Minister of State, MCIT and Prof. Rajat Moona, director general of C-DAC. The website of C-DAC i.e. www.cdac.in which is now available in 22 different languages focuses on multi-lingual computing and associated areas that will deal with vital areas like Natural Language Processing (NLP), Speech Processing, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and localization.

This multi-lingual website is result of many years of dedicated efforts and support of C-DAC development teams across India.

Mere 4-5 per cent people in India know English and rest of the population still depend on local languages. The web portal with 22 languages and 27 scripts simultaneously.
