The report further says that the increasing number of users is the result of the increase in penetration and the easy availability of broadband.
The internet penetration rate in the country is expected to reach 19 per cent in 2015 from present 7 per cent.
The report also states that the internet usage in the country is basically concentrated only in the big cities, where the migrants from small towns are less exposed to internet.
The report also finds that the internet usage in India is youth driven, where the youngsters brose a lot for educational and entertainment purpose.
A report from comScore, which specializes in digital market intelligence, shows that three-quarters of the web audience fall under the age group of 35, and that 15-24 year olds of both genders are the heaviest Internet users.
Around 84 per cent browsers use internet to access social networking sites which takes 21 per cent of the time spent online.
When it comes to rural India, the total active users are projected to double to 24 million by the end of 2011.
