Bangalore: Though many colleges in the country restrict the use of mobile phones in the campus area, the Seshadripuram First Grade College in Yelahanka, Bangalore, has decided to use the latest technology for academic purpose. The new concept gives the choice for the students to answer the question papers and the teachers to mark the attendance of those who are taking the test.

This technology will also help in saving the paper consumption of the college. Both students and teachers will be given a special mobile phone which they will have to return after the exam is over.

The college has been using the method since last year for tow of its courses. This year, it plans to extend the technology to other courses as well.

The technology called as 'Interactive Platform On Mobile’ (IPOMO) enables a student to mark the correct answer for each question and submit the answer sheet after revising.

The submissions reach the server as soon as the submit button is clicked. The teachers too are given a password, which when entered enables them to mark the attendance of the students. The data is automatically sent to the server directly within 15 minutes.

The technology being used by the college proves to be a major landmark in solving the paper consumption. The method will definitely lead to the betterment of environment as the number of trees being cut for making paper will reduce to some extent if not fully.
