Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit to be held in Delhi

Gurgaon: The Asia Society, a not-for-profit initiative that brings together leaders from the Asia-Pacific region will be organising its 6th Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit from 18-20 November, 2011.
The Summit will be attended by 150 emerging leaders from various fields including government, business, non-profit, media and the arts. The delegates will be holding discussions on various issues related to international relations and will examine feasible solutions. As a part of the event, a public service fair will also be held where the delegates will be given an opportunity to present their ideas for projects in the field of public service.
The theme of the Summit this year is ‘Worlds Apart Together’. Speaking on the theme, Mr Michael G. Kulma, Executive Director, Global Leadership Initiative said, “It aims to bring together young leaders to focus on value based leadership and come together to bridge the gap between various countries.”
Eminent leaders including Jungwook Hong, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea; Lobsang Sangay, Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in Exile; Rajiv Shah, USAID Administrator (USA); and Dashdorj Zorigt, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mongolia form a part of the alumni of the network.  

Young achievers from India including Barkha Dutt, Group Editor-English News, NDTV; Binoy Job, Director of Media and Communications, Prime Minister’s Office; Menaka Guruswamy, Advocate, Supreme Court of India; and Shaffi Mather, Advocate, Supreme Court of India are also a part of the delegation.

“The Asia 21 young leaders represent the future of the Asia-Pacific region.  The work that this incredible community of leaders is doing today and will do in the future is laying a strong foundation for regional collaboration for decades to come,” said Asia Society Executive Vice President Jamie Metzl.  

The Asia Society, an international organization that aims at improving international relations between Asia and the United States, was founded in 1956 by John D. Rockefeller 3rd. The Society has established their headquarters in New York and works through regional centres established across 10 countries in Asia and the United States.
