New Delhi: With the advanced medical facilities, the life expectancy rate in the country has gone up by almost 50 per cent since 1960 to 64.7, says the India Health Report 2010.

The report prepared by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indicus Analytics says that the increasing use of medical facilities and better health regime is considered to be the reason for this remarkable growth.

On comparing the rate with other countries it was found out that the growth is much smaller than that of other countries. The increase in the life expectancy is higher than that of Sub-Saharan Africa.

But India’s neighbouring country Bangladesh has left the country behind and has a higher Life Expectancy Rate of 64.1.

The Infant Mortality Rate of the country has also increased to about 54 per 1,000 live births in 2007. But again, Bangladesh has a better rate than India and sub Saharan Africa has a lower rate.

The report has made it clear that the country has a lot more to do in order to increase the Life Expectancy Rate in the countries as comparable to other countries.
