Mumbai: The State Government is all set to make changes in the school curriculum followed by the SSC schools by updating the text books. New innovations, scientific research, developments etc will be included in the new curriculum.

The State Education Ministry has appointed a committee eight months back to review the current education system and to come up with suggestions to revive it.

The committee in its report recommended for an update of the textbooks on a regular basis. Since the scientific developments are happening on a daily basis, it is necessary for the students to be aware of it. The present text books were designed long back and not been updated, said the committee.

The committee also suggested that languages should be taught for communication, not for the theory purpose because despite learning two-three languages, some children still have communication problem.

Apart from that, the ministry had set up seven focus groups across the state, which consists of ten members each from the committee. These groups submitted the suggestions on how to bring about positive changes in the present education system.

The report, known as the State Curriculum Framework, has been made in lines with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

The committee will present the report to the State Education Ministry soon. The Government is expected to implement the suggestions in the next academic year.
