Kohima: The Nagaland government has launched a five year TB programme civil society initiative in order to strengthen the existing TB programme in the state.

The state control programme cell will include Emmanuel Hospital Association, one of the renowned hospital groups in India and the Catholic Health Association of India to take efforts jointly.

The joint efforts in the 374 districts across 23 states by 2015 will ensure the improvement of TB care and control especially for the marginalised.

To add to the effort, more public awareness would be made done to sensitise the people on the misconception and myths of TB and its treatment.

The Government expects that people of the state will benefit from this and it will go a long way in providing quality TB services through a collaborative effort between the state health department and the partners.

The state plans to have its own drug resistant TB facility where medicines will be available free of cost and the government will extend its full support to people suffering from any related health disease.

In addition local NGO’s and villagers will also be included so as to deliver proper healthcare services to the people.
