In most countries universities are owned by governments and they are funded by the governments. Also there is inadequate supply of laboratory space and besides that they are obsolete.
The inadequacy in teaching, laboratory and workshop facilities have affected the engineering graduates in India. There is a dearth of ICT facilities for the training of students. The high cost of computer and teaching aids ownership is a major constraint to acquisition of the items.
Access to affordable and reliable internet connectivity is only available in a few institutions.
Also, 75 pct of Indian engineering students remain unemployed according to a report by the software industry group ‘National Association of Software and Services Companies’ (NASSCOM).The report sent education experts across the country into discussion over what needs to be done, as we churn out engineers by the tons only to find a third of them being stamped unemployable.
