Patna: The Bihar Government will be launching a new insurance scheme which will replacethe Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana of the Centre.This new insurance scheme will be available forcraftsmen, and unorganized workers.
The state government has named its scheme -Bihar Shatabdi Asangathit Karyakshetra KamgarEvam Shilpkar Surakasha Yojana. The reason behind the name is that the state is celebratingits centenary in March this year hence CM Nitish Kumar said that all the schemes and buildingslaunched would have the prefix "Bihar Shatabdi".
Under this scheme the government will provide insurance cover of Rs 1 Lakh for accidentaldeaths, Rs 75,000 for absolute diasability, Rs 37,500 for permanent temporary disability, and Rs30,000 for death in harness. The state government will have a liability of Rs 2 Crore at the endof the year on account of all the areas covered under the scheme.
The nod from the cabinet is pending after which the plan would be launched formally.
