Initially there were only 5-10 members who came forward and took it upon themselves to make the area cleaner and greener way back in 2000.
However now the count has gone up and there are some 60-65 members who devote their time to clean and maintain the park.
Seeing the enthusiasm and dedication of the residents, the Kanpur Nagar Nigam also came forward and helped the residents in maintaining the park. The funds amounting to Rs 2 lakh for the same was collected from the residents itself.
The hardwork of the residents have reaped rewards as the park which was once full of wild shrubs and weeds has now become one of the most developed parks in the area.
The park has trees such as Ashoka, pipal, mango, banyan, goolar and pakariya, besides a wide variety of herbal plants like tulsi.
The residents are now planning to start rain water harvesting system too in the area. Cemented channel would be constructed around the outer ring of the park, through which water would flow towards the grassy patch and then it would get absorbed.
