"In pursuance of the implementation of the Right of Children to Compulsory Education, which came into force in 2010, the CBSE has amended/added rules in its affiliation and examination bylaws to be in consonance with the provisions of the said Act,” reads a circular sent by the Board to all the heads of the affiliated schools.
The circular was sent to 11,000 schools including the ones in India and abroad.
CBSE has amended the rules in its affiliation, examination bylaws and besides the screening process during admission.
The new rule says that the fee charges should be commensurate with the facilities provided by the institution.
The rule also calls for no capitation fee or voluntary donation for gaining admission in the school. In case of such malpractices, the board may take drastic action, also leading to the disaffiliation of the school.
On the issue of harassment of the students, the Board has made additional rules in accordance with RTE. It says that the teacher will be charged with cruelty towards any student or any employee of the school.
Regarding the change in the syllabi, the new rule says that the request for approval of middle school syllabus should be made when the school has reached the Class V level.
