Orissa tribals to get health units

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa Government has sanctioned an additional 112 mobile health units to the tribal dominated blocks and backward KBK.

The move is to solve the problem of shortage of doctors. Around 118 tribal dominated blocks in the state have health units and the government is planning to expand the services to 230 blocks.

The Health and Family Welfare Department has decided to provide atleast two health units for 118 blocks.

The government has sanctioned Rs.16 crore for operationalisation of 112 mobile health units in the current fiscal. The annual expenditure on each mobile unit is estimated at Rs 14.17 lakh.  

It has also been decided to create 124 new born corners in the health centres to provide good postnatal services for both child and mother. As of now, there are 452 new born corners in the state.
