New Delhi: The Centre has asked the State governments and Union Territories to increase the representation of Muslims in the police force. The current percentage of Muslims in the Indian Police Services (IPS) is only 3.39 per cent while the total Muslim population in the country is around 13.4 per cent.
Panel recommends 10 pc quota for Muslims
New Delhi: The report of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities was tabled by Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in the Lok Sabha. The report recommends 10 per cent reservation for Muslims and five per cent for other minorities in government jobs and favoured Scheduled Caste status for Dalits in all religions.
