New Delhi: The Schedule Castes (SCs) and Schedules Tribes (STs) form half of the total ‘poor and deprived households’ in the country, says a pilot survey on Below Poverty Line population of India.

Dharamsala: Majority of people in Himachal Pradesh are unaware of the various developmental schemes especially the scholarship schemes for the students and the loan schemes for the people, implemented by the government for their benefit. Mumbai: The married Muslim women in the slums of Behrampada, Mumbai now have a new and revised marriage contract that gives them more security than earlier. In a movement by Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) aimed at empowering the slum women, a new contract has been put in place to give what is due to Muslim women.

New Delhi: The Union Government is all set to introduce a pilot project to provide skills among the poor minority communities and below poverty line (BPL). The project will open a lot of job opportunities for them depending upon their interest and skills.

New Delhi: The Centre has asked the State governments and Union Territories to increase the representation of Muslims in the police force. The current percentage of Muslims in the Indian Police Services (IPS) is only 3.39 per cent while the total Muslim population in the country is around 13.4 per cent.

New Delhi: The report of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities was tabled by Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in the Lok Sabha. The report recommends 10 per cent reservation for Muslims and five per cent for other minorities in government jobs and favoured Scheduled Caste status for Dalits in all religions.
