Germany in 2017 had the 5% fewer crimes and the crime rate was lowest since 1992, as per the latest data.
The latest official statistics, which put the total number of crimes at the country at 5.7 million, is the lowest in 30 years, if taken as a percentage of the population.
The annoucement comes at a time of public concern over crime due to an increase in terror attacks in recent years, and the influx of hundreds of thousands of refugees. Survey has shown that 44 percent of the Germans feels less secure today than they did a few years ago.
The number of crimes down by non-German nationals have come down by 23 percent from around 950,000 to just over 700,000, the data showed.
