New Zealand is experiencing a heatwave across the country, with temperature crossing 37C in parts of the South Island.
The temperature is causing difficulties to the people, and the country is running out of fans and air conditioners are not much in use generally. Schools that are equipped with heaters and not air conditioners are finding it especially difficult to manage the heat.
Warm sea temperature is the major factor behind the phenomenon, which is making January one of the warmest on record.
42.4C, recorded in 1973 was one of the highest summer temperatures in the country. Several are blaming climate change for the high temperature this time.
