Number of homeless people in Germany has reached 860,000, and 440,000 of them are refugees, shows data.
This marks a 33 percent rise in just two years, acccording to figures by Germany’s federal working group for homeless persons’ assistance (BAG).
In this, 32,000, or eight percent of the homeless who are not refugees, are thought to be children, reported DW.
The total number of homeless are expected to reach 1.2 million by 2018.
The shrinking supply of housing, and the government’s decision to allow to almost one million refugees to enter Germany in 2015 were considered the major reasons for this growth.
