Ethiopia frees journalists after a decade

Two Eritrean journalists who were in Ethiopian jail have been released after more than a decade.

Tesfaldet Kidane and Salih Gama, who were arrested in 2006 at the Kenya-Somalia border during Ethiopian invasion of Somalia, were released over the weekend, reported The VOA.

The two were never been charged or put into trial though the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry had presented them on state television among captured terrorism suspects.

According to Committee to Protect Journalists, Gama, Ethiopia has put 16 journalists behind bars, while Eritrea has 17, as of 2016.
